The PAWS Cares Community Veterinary Clinic offers exams, core vaccines, flea and tick medication, heartworm testing and prevention, Lyme testing and prevention, spay and neuter services, basic laboratory testing and non-emergency illnesses to low-income pet owners.
We can handle both routine wellness visits and non-emergency pet needs.
To receive PAWS Cares Community Veterinary Clinic reduced rates you must receive at least one of the following: (Please bring a copy to your appt.)

Food support (SNAP, EBT)

Medicaid

MaineCare
-
VA disability
-
WIC
-
Section 8 housing
-
Are a full-time student
-
Currently unemployed and receiving unemployment benefits

If you are not receiving any assistance, you can still receive care at PAWS.

To be eligible you will need to fall into one of the following categories:

Be a client of one of our social service partner organizations and referred by the organization

Be the owner of a PAWS adopted cat or dog
-
Have a new kitten or puppy with no established vet history
-
Have a sick pet with no established vet history
We accept credit card, debit card (Care Credit, Scratch Pay – coming soon) and cash payments. We are unable to accept EBT/MaineCare cards or personal checks.

** Please note that we do not offer emergency services, advanced procedures, or imaging services (this includes X-rays, ultrasounds or any other imaging of any kind) but we will do what we can to help you find care for theses services. **

If you’re not sure if we can help your pet, please do call–we’re happy to answer questions and direct you appropriately to find the care you need.

Our medical team are experienced at offering compassionate and comprehensive care to you and your pet.
Please note, we are not a replacement for a full-service veterinarian as our services are limited.

If you have a regular veterinarian, we encourage you to keep that relationship with them.

We are here to help bridge the gap in veterinary care for community pets in need of our services.

We are collaborating with our local veterinarians to help patients and owners who are in need of treatment and will provide referrals as needed.

Pre-surgical exams for canine surgeries with appointment to follow for spaying and neutering if pet qualifies for surgery here.

Pocket pet exams including rabbits, guinea pigs and rats.
